형용사(Adjectives)의 의미
1. classic = typical (전형적인)
classical = belonging to old time (고전적인)

2. considerable (많은, 상당한)
considerate = thoughtful (동정심 많은)
considering = for (∼을 고려하면, ∼에 비해)
* She has a considerable income.
* It is very considerate of you to buy this book for my brother.
* You look young considering your age.
3. desirable (바람직한)
desirous (바라는)
* It is most desirable that he should attend the conference.
* He is a desirable man; I am desirous of employing him.
4. economic (경제의, 경제와 관련된)
economical = not wasteful, saving (절약하는, 절약이 되는, 경제적인)
* The economic situation has improved greatly in the last few years; but there are still many economic problems to be solved.
* His wife is a most economical housewife, but the car they run is uneconomical.
5. historic (역사적으로 중요한) She located herself behind the curtain.
historical = not fictional (역사에 관계된, 역사적인)
* The American Declaration of Independence is probably the most historic event in modern times.
* Obviously the historical background to the crisis is important.
6. credible = believable (믿을 수 있는) ⇔ incredible
creditable (명예로운) ⇔ uncreditable
credulous (잘 믿는, 잘 속는)

* a very creditable conduct = a conduct that deserves praise
* a credulous person = a person who is easily imposed upon
7. contemptible = deserving of contempt (경멸받을 만한)
contemptuous = showing contempt (경멸하는)

8. continual = succession that is steady but broken from time to time (빈번한)
continuous = without any interval (연속적인, 끊이지 않는)
* He couldn't bear the continual bouts of toothache.

* The dust and mud on the pavement was washed away by the continuous rain from Monday through Wednesday.
9. comparative (비교의, 비교상의)
comparable (┅에 필적하는)
